Good Morning Book Lovers!

I hope and pray that you are well.  Today we are finally getting doors for the girls bedrooms as well as the bathroom.  We have been without them for a few years now and with a large family, not having a bathroom door has been a bit challenging.  It is a very exciting and incredibly noisy day here.  Reagan and Lady are definitely not happy with strangers coming in and out of the house.  Home repairs and renovations have not been things we have done often so my heart goes out to anyone who is or has done extensive home repair.  That being said, I am going to host a GiftAway for a $10 Amazon Gift Card today to make the day a little more fun.

How to enter the Amazon $10 Gift Card GiftAway:

You must share any repair or restoration memory in the comments below.  Even if it is simply a design change, an upgrade to a sad looking room, just drop a comment below and let me know how it went and if you were happy with the results.

May the Lord shower you with blessings,

~Stasia

My restoration is current-had to replace our water heater this past Saturday and when the water was turned back on the pipes in the bathroom burst. That is the project for this week. 🙂

Oh that is terrible, I am so sorry to hear that. Our first project here, before I came down with the children, was the same. We had to replace all of the flooring. IT was a nightmare but I was in the states with the children. Yesterday was hard because of the noise and dust and we have two special needs children. They stayed in my room, slept and watched tv as well as ate a lot of homemade oatmeal cranberry cookies, in my bed. LOL

I believe 🙏 my restoration is current even though I have not seen it come to fruition in the natural yet. I believe he is restoring my career and I am trying to wait patiently as it comes to fruition. Thank you for giving us a chance to win.

My home is in a constant state of “remodel” which means the kitchen has been done, but not all the knobs are on the cabinets and the floor is still plywood; the extra bathroom is usable, but the shower and enclosure (faucet, wall covering over the drywall) is not done yet; the new entry way closet needs to be finished with texture and paint – then the hardware for the barn doors (recycled big closet doors) and then finished; plans for a new front door – relocated to the center of the living room – and putting in a picture window to match the other side; the siding needs to be completely redone – there is just insulation and then the old siding. We have to do sections due to the progress of the house and the budget (or lack thereof). I will just stop there, because the list of things to finish, start, or stare in disbelief at are overwhelming to think of all at once. Life has it’s crazy seasons, but God is good and will get us through it. 🙂

Oh my goodness YES so is our home as we live in Mexico. While we lived in the states for a few years, we lent the house to a local shelter for children and it was just devastated. So much of it was damaged either by lack of care, selling things off or even after they left, thieves came in and took our first round of tools, ceiling fans and flooring when the house was vacant for a few months. The first major renovations, I was in the states with the children. WE have had to do everything but John would come down in increments as we could afford it. AS missionaries it has taken us 5 years to get some of the most basic things done. WE have not touched the needs in the kitchen but we will. I am even more grateful for all John did each time he came down. The furniture had been sold off, he would sleep on the floor, cook over a little burner and work as hard as he could with local help until each trip was over. God bless you

Good Luck with any renovations you’re doing. I remember when I lived in Maryland, hubby and I remodeled my entire house before I put it on the market. All new flooring on three levels, all new bathroom updates except tubs. Floors, sinks, vanities, lighting, etc and we redid my kitchen. Painted builders grade cabinets and put molding on them for a more custom look, new sink, fixtures, and hardware. I LOVED that kitchen when it was done. Definitely a lot of work but was worth it in the end. Fast forward until now, we have relocated to Kentucky and I have a lady coming to my house in a half-hour to get me started on a new renovation. We purchased a fixer-upper in Sept of last year and now the journey begins again.

Oh Cindy, God bless you. My dearest friends flip and build. We couldn’t do that. One, we are not competent with even a small drill and two, the noise and mess. WE have two special needs children and the air compressor, drills and all of that was horrible for them.

In response to your giveaway question, two home projects come to mind. One, when I was just a child. My Mom’s aunt came to live with us so we added onto the house, including a patio. What I remembered most was skating on the icy patio area in the winter when it was in process of being built. What fun for a kid! The other is most recent. My new condo had two areas painted a peach/coral color that wasn’t my style. My sister came recently and painted it a dusty medium blue. It turned out so good and reminds me of my Mom who loved blue and purple.

Oh what a lovely memory and from your perspective as a child… none of the bothering banging and noise, just a sweet memory.

We bought our first house in September. The former owners did a lot of upgrades such as putting great shelves closets.
We will be trying to do some flowerbeds this spring. The only thing I can think of that we did to dress up the place was put roman shades in the sunroom. And added a small electric fireplace in there. Hubby just bought a riding mower because the lawn is bigger than our rental.

I have just had a water heater replaced in a mobile home because it had seeping leak. It had to be a smaller diameter to go thru the door where it sits. I thought the old one would never finish draining so the plumber could work. Now I hope he can find the right size stainless steel kitchen sink but I am grateful that the sink is working–just looks bad. Also thankful that I heard a leak under the house when I walked by it and it is fixed now.

We took out a huge garden soaker tub and put in a walk in shower. We had a 6 inch hole on one end, and my man fixed shelves in it. It works great and the shower is a huge blessing for me.

We redid all the floors in our house recently…. yes love it!! It took some time because we had to empty all furniture out…. lay subfloors and then contractors came in to lay engineered vinyl floor. Great! While everything out we had painters paint rooms too and it was an adventure but glad it’s done!
