Good Morning Book Lovers!
Do you use essential oils? I started using scented lotions many years ago as a way to calm anxious children when we were traveling. I would simply put a dollop of lotion in their hands and tell them to rub it in while they smelled the pretty aroma. Many an unwilling child has succumbed to sleep via this trick! 😉
Back to essential oils… I am not sure when oils became the new “thing” but it seems as if everyone is using them. Although I was a skeptic at first, I have seen amazing results in several areas of our lives including a renewed sense of calm and well-being as well as a better focus when it comes to study and concentration. So much so, I began asking friends and loved ones about their home-based businesses.
I actually found that kind of overwhelming, so…. rather than jumping into a business model, I searched for free information on the internet about the benefits of oils and which ones to use, blend etc. There are a lot of good sites out there. 🙂 (note: I fully support and love home-based business models however, everyone wants me to sign on a dotted line somewhere and I simply do not have the time, talent or finances to begin a business)
At the moment, I have a lovely jasmine diffusing here at my desk and frankincense diffusing in the main rooms of the house. I chose jasmine simply because it reminded me of the wild jasmine that grew on the wall in my home in Mexico. At night I would sit under the tree and talk about the Lord with my neighbors while we cooked hot dogs for dozens of children who would have otherwise not had a hot meal. Ahhh the memories.
The frankincense is supposed to help with many things and since we had a bit of a mold problem when the roof leaked last year, I figured that would be my best choice. At any rate, the reason I share this is because our resources are limited, I search for deals, bargains and best brands that don’t break the bank so to speak. The brand that I have been using most frequently is NOW FOODS Brand for my oils. I can find them just about anywhere and they really are a good basic brand. I originally found NOW at Whole Foods Market (which you can find here on Amazon) but I have seen NOW at many stores and online as well.
Speaking of “online shopping”, I have found that there are several things that I purchase at a better price on Amazon than at my local discount stores, including make-up! I only do this when it is a PRIME item that requires no shipping fees. It is fun to receive packages in the mail, even if I bought them myself. 🙂
Finally, the reason I mention all this is because there is nothing like curling up with a good book next to a lovely diffuser filled with a yummy scent. I enjoy jasmine, lavender and tangerine for nights when I am reading. Oh and I always have a cup of tea with me when I read; I can’t seem to get into a good book without my tea.
