Good Morning Jesus Lovers!
This is the day we honor the greatest act of love ever expressed: Jesus laying down His life for us. The Father giving His One and Only Son to die in our place. There is nothing like it and we will never see anything like it again, because “it is finished!” Romans 8:32 says it all:
“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”
Today we three great titles (among many) that I would encourage you to add to your library:
“Six Hours One Friday: Living in the Power of the Cross” by Max Lucado. In yet another powerful, engaging read, one of America’s most beloved authors delves into the meaning of Jesus’ last hours on the cross. Through his death, your life has purpose and meaning. You are forgiven and loved by a Savior who died for you. And an empty tomb proclaims that death does not have the final word.
“Here, Now: Unearthing Peace and Presence in an Overconnected World” by Kate Merrick. Does life sometimes seem to be passing you by? Are you so busy—with email to check, Instagram to scroll through, and friends to be envious of—that you’ve become disconnected from your actual life? You know, the one you are living right here, right now? With hilariously relatable confessions and profoundly beautiful insights, Kate Merrick invites us to stop running away from the lives we’re living today and instead walk in the peace and fullness God offers moment to moment.
Unoffendable: How Just One Change Can Make All of Life Betterby Brant Hansen. Given the fact that Jesus took all the offenses of the world upon himslef on the cross, do we really want to carry offenses in our hearts? It’s a radical, provocative idea: We’re not entitled to get offended or stay angry. The idea of our own “righteous anger” is a myth. It is the number one problem in our societies today and, as Dallas Willard says, Christians have not been taught out of it. Few other books exist with such a radical, provocative proposal to consider. We have no right to anger. We are to get rid of it, period. Completely. And it is possible to choose to be “unoffendable.”
Have a Blessed Day!
