My husband says he thinks it is a tad silly the way everyone gets worked up about a total eclipse. As he put it: “Total eclipses go on every day, we just aren’t there to see them. God serves up sunsets and sunrises, hummingbirds and monarchs and a myriad of miraculous wonders for our eyes—each and every day. The beauty of what He daily gives us is something to get excited about, not standing in the right place at the right time to see the lights turned off.”
Maybe he has a point. God has served up so many blessings for us right before our eyes each day. Elizabeth Browning wrote:
“Earth’s crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God,
But only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round and pluck blackberries.”
